Protests intensify on other NYC campuses after Columbia, CUNY cleared

Despite clearing out college protests at Columbia University and the City University of New York on Tuesday evening, demonstrators were back at it again on Wednesday, this time at Fordham University's Lincoln Center campus.

At about 8 a.m. local time, anti-Israel demonstrators rushed a security checkpoint at Fordham's Lowenstein Hall and set up at least seven identical gray-and-green tents inside the building.

A crowd of demonstrators, including many non-students, formed outside of the school in support of the "Gaza Solidarity Encampment," which mirrors many other encampments on other college campuses. 

Chants could be heard in support of the "intifada" – a violent, bloody uprising in Israel.

"It is right to rebel. Israel go to hell," the protesters stated on another occasion.

A New York Police City Department arrest bus pulled up to the campus, but as of 1 p.m., no arrests have been made. However, potentially due to concerns about being arrested, some of the students who were occupying the building left about an hour before the bus arrived. 

Three high school students were supporting Israel as part of a small counter-protest.

They said their school is down the street and they could not focus at all with the chants going on. The students als said that the protesters were chanting in support of a genocide, which is what the protesters are accusing Israel of doing in Gaza.
