CNN will host a town hall event with former U.N. Ambassador Nikki Haley after the network previously held a comparable event with former President Donald Trump.

Haley's town hall will take place in Iowa, the site of the first Republican nominating contest. CNN's chief Washington correspondent, Jake Tapper, will moderate the June 4 event. The forum will be available on the cable network, as well as its apps and via online livestream.

The network drew considerable criticism earlier this month for its hosting of a town hall with Trump that drew a large audience. Left-wing pundits and lawmakers, including many CNN personalities, took exception to the programming on the grounds that it allowed Trump to air his opinions on issues in front of a receptive audience.

That forum largely involved moderator Kaitlan Collins attempting to talk over Trump to contest his positions, while the former president largely ignored her.

Haley currently stands well behind Trump in most polls, with the former South Carolina governor attracting an average 4.5% support in the RealClearPolitics polling average. Trump, Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis, and former Vice President Mike Pence stand ahead of her.

DeSantis has filed for a 2024 run and is expected to officially launch his campaign on Wednesday evening.
