New documents reveal more details about the death and mental state of disgraced financier and sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein.

According to documents obtained by the Associated Press, two weeks before his death Epstein sat in a corner of his Manhattan jail cell, holding his hands over his ears, desperate to muffle the sound of a toilet that wouldn’t stop running.

The documents show that Epstein had been under psychological evaluation for a suicide attempt, but after a 31-hour stint on suicide watch, Epstein insisted he wasn’t suicidal.

He reportedly told the psychologist that he had a “wonderful life” and it “would be crazy” for him to end it.

Following his arrest in July 2019 for federal sex trafficking and conspiracy charges, Epstein would often complain about not being able to adapt to prison life.

Epstein was on suicide watch on August 9, 2019, the day before his death. He was also visited by multiple attorneys throughout the day, according to a document detailing his suicide timeline.

Epstein died in prison in August 2019 while awaiting trial on charges of sexually abusing dozens of girls.
