Oleksandr Usyk defeats Tyson Fury by split decision to gain title of undisputed heavyweight champion

In a spectacular boxing match to unite all four boxing belts for the undisputed championship of the world, Britain's Tyson Fury was defeated by the slimmest of margins by Ukraine's Oleksandr Usyk. One ref gave the fight to Usyk, one gave it to Fury, and the third, announced by legendary announcer Michael Buffer, to Usyk, 114-113.

The two men have a rematch clause in their contract, and both agreed in the ring immediately after the fight that they would have a rematch in October.

"Usyk (22-0, 14 KOs), who entered with the WBA, IBF and WBO belts, captured Fury's (34-1-1, 24 KOs) WBC and lineal titles to become undisputed,” according to ESPN. “The last time boxing had an undisputed heavyweight champion was in 2000 (Lennox Lewis, three-belt era).”
