Chairman of the Freedom Caucus says McCarthy has signaled a willingness to work with them on issues
Chairman of the House Freedom Caucus Scott Perry says that House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy who has a shot at becoming the House Speaker next year, has shown some initiative lately in regard to working with the caucus on some issues.
"There's been more of a willingness to come to the table and talk about things," Pennsylvania GOP Rep. Scott Perry said on the Wednesday edition of the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show.
Perry said that questions were asked by members of the leadership of the GOP, including McCarthy, to try to work out a deal with the Freedom Caucus to get some things done next year.
"What do you want to do? What are you trying to accomplish?" Perry said, referencing the questions leadership asked them. "Let's see how we can have a family conversation. That's where we need to be. But quite honestly, that's where we always should have been."
According to Perry, the GOP has to have united leadership for 2023 or they won't be able to pushback against the Biden agenda.
"We're trying to work effectively to hear each other's concerns, but we got a tight majority," Perry explained. "If we can't figure this stuff out, we won't defeat the Biden agenda. That's what's really important: defeating the Biden leftist agenda."
