Democrat-led House panel probing Jan 6 issues 11 more subpoenas, focused on rally before breach

The Democrat-controlled House committee investigating the Capitol riot has issued 11 more subpoenas in connection with the Jan. 6 incident.

The special, or "select" committee, issued the additional subpoenas Wednesday to people associated with a rally attended by President Trump prior to the riot. 

The panel sent subpoenas to Amy Kremer,  chairwoman of Women for America First, which helped plan the rally; Caroline Wren, a Trump fundraiser listed as a "V.I.P. adviser" for the event; Cindy Chafian, another organizer; Hannah Salem Stone, who managed logistics; and Justin Caporale, listed as an event "project manager" and who was top aide to first lady Melania Trump, according to The New York Times.

The committee also sent subpoenas to Katrina Pierson, Trump’s former national campaign spokeswoman; Kylie Jane Kremer, the director of Women for America First; Lyndon Brentnall, the owner of a Florida-based security company who was the “on-site supervisor” for the rally; Maggie Mulvaney, a niece of the former top Trump aide Mick Mulvaney, who is listed on the permit for the event; Megan Powers, an operations manager; and Tim Unes, whose company was listed as the stage manager for the gathering.

"You assisted in organizing the rally held at the Ellipse in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 6, 2021, in support of then-President Trump and his allegations of election fraud," Rep. Bennie Thompson, the Mississippi Democrat leading the select committee, said in a letter sent with the subpoenas, The Times also reports.

Last week, the committee issued subpoenas to four former Trump advisers who were allegedly in close contact with him Jan. 6 – former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, former White House Deputy Chief of Staff for Communications Dan Scavino, former Defense Department official Kash Patel and former adviser Steve Bannon.
