Fencing around U.S. Capitol returns ahead of Biden's State of Union address Tuesday night

The 7-foot-tall fencing that surrounded the U.S. Capitol for nearly half of last year has returned for President Biden's State of the Union address Tuesday night.

The increased security for the speech – in which members of all three branches of the federal government will be in attendance – also includes the National Guard on standby and police cars with flashing lights stationed at major intersections and highways in and around the nation's capital, according to the Associated Press. 

Officials say no specific or credible threats related to the speech exists. The fencing was initially erected after the Jan. 6, 2020, riot at the Capitol and remained until July.

Officials say they are preparing for trucker convoys, similar to those in Canada, arriving in Washington, D.C., later this week in protests of against pandemic restrictions.
