Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz joined Monday with fellow GOP House members Marjorie Taylor Green, Paul Gosar and Andy Biggs in calling on the Justice Department of to affirm its commitment to election integrity in Arizona.

The four members of Congress sent a letter to Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Pamela Karlan asking her to allow Arizona to continue with its audits of the 2020 presidential election in Maricopa County.

"No later than Thursday, May 20, please respond to this letter with a commitment to uphold the rule of law and allow Arizona to confirm the 2020 elections were free and fair," the letter states.

In their letter, the lawmakers criticized Karlan for a letter she previously sent to president of the Arizona State Senate, Karen Fann, in which she equated the attempt to audit the election with voter intimidation.

"We are confident in the integrity of the process and look forward to reviewing the results, no matter what is found," the letter states. "In a constitutional republic, the most important thing you can do is make sure the integrity of our election system is protected, free, transparent  and open."
