Numerous Senate Republicans are warning in a letter to the Small Business Administration that millions in disbursed funds to Planned Parenthood affiliates need to be returned due to the fact that those affiliates are ineligible for the payments under federal law.

The Washington Examiner's Washington Secrets blog reported on Friday that "in a letter to SBA Administrator Isabel Guzman, 25 GOP senators said that the affiliates have received $83 million and apparently continue to get money through the Paycheck Protection Program when the rules state they are ineligible."

The letter, reprinted by the Examiner, deemed it "unconscionable that SBA continues to approve PPP loans made to organizations which are clearly ineligible for funding."

The senators said they intended to "vigilantly demand an investigation."

"Moving forward," they wrote, "the SBA must ensure that the agency upholds both the letter of the law and the intent of Congress in implementing this critical program to protect America's small businesses."
