Democrats managed to attract scant Republican support of the measure.

The U.S. Senate voted late Tuesday afternoon in favor of the constitutionality of the second impeachment trial of former President Donald Trump, giving the Senate the procedural green light to continue ahead with the trial even though Trump is no longer president.
