House Homeland Security chair says he's 'absolutely' bringing impeachment articles against Mayorkas

Green said the secretary is "derelict in his duty, he's broken the laws of the United States that have passed Congress, he's lied to Congress."

House Homeland Security Committee Chairman Mark Green, R-Tenn., says he is "absolutely" going to bring articles of impeachment against Homeland Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for his response to the southern border crisis.

Green said on Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures" that his committee has been investigating Mayorkas for several months and the probe is set to conclude this month.

The committee will have "three or four hearings in January" and will then edit the impeachment articles that have already been brought by several different members of Congress before Green introduces the articles of impeachment on the House floor, the congressman said.

Explaining why he's leading the push to impeach Mayorkas, Green said the secretary is "derelict in his duty, he's broken the laws of the United States that have passed Congress, he's lied to Congress. This guy needs to go."

He also said that the removals of illegal immigrants under Mayorkas decreased by about five-fold while record numbers of illegal immigrants are entering the United States.

"It shows their intent is basically to fundamentally change the population of the United States and, I believe, to empower the Democrat Party into perpetuity," he also said.
