House votes in favor of creating select committee to probe Jan. 6 Capitol riot

The U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday voted to establish a select committee tasked with probing the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

The vote was 222-190. Just two Republican lawmakers, Rep. Adam Kinzinger of Illinois and Rep. Liz Cheney of Wyoming, voted in favor of establishing the committee.

The committee will probe "the facts, circumstances and causes relating to the Jan. 6, 2021, domestic terrorist attack," according to its organizing resolution, the New York Times noted.
