Jordan demands docs from NY AG Letitia James about Bragg prosecutor who worked in Biden admin.
House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan is demanding documents from New York Attorney General Letitia James related to the employment of Matthew Colangelo, a prosecutor in the office of New York County District Attorney (DANY) Alvin Bragg, who previously worked in her office and in the Biden administration.
"New York County District Attorney (DANY) Alvin Bragg is engaged in one such politicized prosecution, which is being led in part by Matthew B. Colangelo, a former prosecutor in your office and subsequent senior Justice Department official in the Biden administration," Jordan wrote in a letter on Thursday. "Given the perception that the Justice Department is assisting in District Attorney Bragg’s politicized prosecution, we write to request information and documents related to Mr. Colangelo’s employment at the New York Attorney General’s Office."
Jordan argued that Colangelo’s "recent employment history demonstrates his obsession with investigating a person rather than prosecuting a crime."
He described in the letter that Colangelo held the "title of Chief Counsel for Federal Initiatives" in the New York AG office and "ran investigations into President Trump, leading “a wave of state litigation against Trump administration policies." Colangelo also started working as the Acting Associate Attorney General from the start of the Biden Administration.
