West Virginia Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin has crossed political party lines and endorsed Alaska GOP Sen. Lisa Murkowski for reelection.

“It’s hypocritical to basically work with a person day in and day out and then, when they’re in cycle, you’re supposed to be against them because they have an R or D by their name," Manchin said Sunday on CNN.

Manchin and Murkowski worked together to craft the bipartisan, $1.2 trillion infrastructure law that passed Congress.

Murkowski was one of seven Senate Republicans to join all of the chamber's Democrats to convict former President Trump in his second impeachment trial. He was ultimately found not guilty.

Murkowski has served in the Senate since 2002.
