Rep. Taylor Greene disputes report she backed online calls to kill prominent Democrats

Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene expressed online support for the killing of prominent Democratic politicians in 2018 and 2019, prior to winning her successful 2020 congressional election bid, according to a report published Tuesday by CNN. 

The report from CNN details a long list of instances in which Greene, a Republican, appears to call for the punishment and sometimes death of well-known Democratic politicians and activists. Additionally, throughout her congressional campaign, the subject of Greene's peddling of the popular QAnon conspiracy theory was discussed. 

Prior to the CNN report being published, Greene posted a statement to her Twitter account saying that over the years, many different parties have had access to and run her Facebook page. 

"Over the years, I've had teams of people manage my pages," she wrote. "Many posts have been liked. Many posts have been shared. Some did not represent my views. Especially the ones that CNN is about to spread across the internet. They are taking old Facebook posts from random users to try to cancel me and silence my voice. CNN hasn't once tried to cancel a Democrat. Even those who called for violence while in office. Here's the truth, the Democrats and their spokesmen in the Fake News Media will stop at nothing to defeat conservative Republicans."

Prior to her congressional run for office, Greene created a White House petition in early 2019 calling for the impeachment of Nancy Pelosi for "crimes of treason," referring to Pelosi's support for policies that "are serving illegals and not United States' citizens."
