Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell will on Jan. 6 lead a delegation to Georgia for former GOP Sen. Johnny Isakson's funeral.

The funeral will occur on the one-year anniversary of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot, which means members of Senate Republican leadership will likely not be at the Capitol on Thursday to mark the anniversary.

McConnell's decision to be in Atlanta on Thursday for the funeral is being reported by Punchbowl News, based on information from a McConnell aide, the news outlet said.
