Rep. Thomas Massie, a Kentucky Republican with a strong libertarian bent, says his office will refuse to comply with the Washington, D.C. vaccine mandate that takes effect Saturday.
Massie tweeted on Thursday: "The DC vaccine mandate kicks in this weekend. My office will not comply. We will not show papers. We will not order takeout from restaurants that require papers for dine in. We will get our food from Virginia or we will bring it to work."
"Shame has befallen our nation's capital," added the congressman, who long has acted as an alarm bell about government overreach pertaining to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Once the mandate goes into practice, any person over the age of 12 will be required to present proof of vaccination along with ID in order to enter most businesses and entertainment venues. Masks will also still largely be required.
