Sens. Raphael Warnock and Susan Collins on Thursday announced they've tested positive for COVID-19, hours after the office for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi confirmed she has the virus – among a series of recent confirmed cases within official Washington.

The several people who have recently tested positive also have had recent direct or indirect contact with 79-year-old President Biden, who's age puts him in a high-risk category for the virus.

Warnock, a Georgia Democrat, announced that he tested positive for the coronavirus Thursday evening, hours after he was in the Senate chamber for Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s Supreme Court confirmation vote and had a brief interaction with Vice President Harris, according to Politico.

Collins was one of the only senators in the chamber wearing a mask during the confirmation vote, Politico also reports.

The 82-year-old Pelosi was at the White House on Wednesday with Biden.

Earlier this week, Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo and a Harris aide tested positive.

Raimondo attended the Gridiron Club and Foundation dinner this past weekend with hundreds of other D.C. insiders. There there is now speculation that the traditional gathering for D.C. insiders could have been a so-called "super spreader" event.
