West Virginia Treasurer Riley Moore announces bid for U.S. House

Moore has served as state treasurer since January of 2021, during which time he has been a prominent critic of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) practices.

West Virginia Treasurer Riley Moore, R, on Monday announced a congressional bid, seeking to represent the state's second district in the U.S. House.

"Today, surrounded by family, I officially filed to run for Congress in #WV02. When you send me to Washington, I will fight for conservative, America First principles every day to improve the lives of West Virginians and to help make our nation great again," Moore announced on X.

GOP Rep. Alex Mooney, who currently holds the seat, is vying for the Republican Senate nomination in a heated primary with Gov. Jim Justice.

Moore has served as state treasurer since January of 2021, during which time he has been a prominent critic of environmental, social, and corporate governance (ESG) practices.

He previously served as a national security advisor to the House Foreign Affairs Committee. He previously represented the state's 67th District in the House of Delegates.
