Alan Dershowitz says political lawfare will pave the way for 'pardon-fare'
Harvard Law School Professor Emeritus Alan Dershowitz said that pardons will become more common in the face of politicized prosecutions.
"The first step is it's going to turn into pardon-fare," Dershowitz said on the "John Solomon Reports" podcast. "So we're going to get pardons now from Trump, and Trump's going to say, 'Hey.... if you pardon your son, I can pardon Giuliani.'"
President Joe Biden on Sunday night pardoned his son Hunter on gun and tax charges, despite promising not to make such a move.
Hunter Biden, 54, was convicted earlier this year by a Delaware jury on gun charges, and then pleaded guilty to tax charges in California.
Dershowitz argued that, due to this pardon, President-elect Donald Trump could cite it and pardon others that he wanted to.
He predicted that there could have been a potential deal between Trump and Biden in order to stop the continuing of lawfare used for political reasons.
"I was hoping that a deal could be made between Trump and Biden," he said. "Trump would pardon Hunter Biden and Biden before he left office would pardon the January 6 non violent people....along with some of the other political people that went to prison for things that nobody would ever go to prison for if they weren't associated with Trump."
