Legal activist Carrie Severino: Amy Coney Barrett's judicial record is 'unimpeachable'

Conservative legal activist Carrie Severino offered high praise for the record of Judge Amy Coney Barrett, who was nominated by President Trump last month to fill the Supreme Court vacancy created by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

In an interview for the John Solomon Reports podcast, Severino assessed Barrett's "track record on the bench" as "unimpeachable."

The Republican-controlled Senate is slated to commence hearings on the nomination next week.

If confirmed, Barrett would become the third Trump nominee seated on the nation's high court, creating a 6-3 conservative majority, or a narrower 5-4 majority if Chief Justice John Roberts were to side with the liberal justices in a case.

Severino, president of the Judicial Crisis Network, said that while people speak about a conservative majority, that terminology does not refer to political voting activity. It is important, she argued, to seat judges who are "constitutionally conservative," which involves "applying the law as it's written," regardless of a judge's own personal view of that law.
