Jury chosen for trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin

Opening statements will start on Monday March 29.

Fifteen jurors have been picked for the upcoming trial of former Minneopolis police officer Derek Chauvin in connection with the death of George Floyd.

The trial will involve 12 jurors and two alternate jurors, while the 15th individual will be dismissed once the trial gets underway provided that the remainder of the jury stays intact, according to the Associated Press, which noted that opening statements are will start on Monday March 29.

The jury panel is comprised of six men and nine women. Nine of the people are white, four are black and two are multiracial, according to the court, the outlet noted.
