Former Trump attorney Michael Cohen was arrested in New York City on Thursday after appearing to violate the terms of his house arrest by eating out at a restaurant last week.

Cohen, who was convicted in 2018 of campaign finance violations and lying to Congress, was let out of prison earlier this year due to the coronavirus pandemic, though he was ordered to finish the remainder of his three-year term under house arrest.

Photos surfaced last Friday of Cohen eating out at a Manhattan restaurant. His attorney, Jeffrey Levine, implied to media on Thursday that that outing was the reason Cohen was arrested.

Levine also said his client will be transferred to a secure institution following the re-arrest.
