A woman will not face charges in the killing of a Missouri firefighter after she shot him while he was engaged in a violent altercation with her boyfriend.

The Jackson County Prosecutor's Office said it would not file charges against the woman who killed Anthony Santi while he was fighting with Ja'Von Taylor outside of a liquor store.

Taylor had reportedly been yelling at a clerk inside the store, after which Santi confronted him and the two men began fighting outside.

Taylor's female companion reportedly grabbed Taylor's gun and fired the shot that killed Santi during the incident.

The prosecutor's office said a "careful review" led them to decline to file charges, with the office citing Missouri's self-defense laws.

Taylor is facing charges related to illegal possession of a firearm.
