Senate confirms Trump's 200th judge

The Senate confirmed its 200th federal judge under President Donald Trump Wednesday, marking a key milestone in the efforts to shape the conservative direction of the judiciary for for years to come.

Cory Wilson, a Mississippi appeals court judge and former Republican lawmaker, was confirmed to a seat to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.  McConnell said that the 52-48 vote completed a push to confirm as many Trump-nominated federal judges as possible.

Wilson fills the final remaining federal circuit court vacancy.

“There will not be a single court vacancy anywhere in the nation for the first time in at least 40 years,” McConnell said. “Our work with the administration to renew our federal courts is not a partisan or political victory. It’s a victory for the rule of law and for the Constitution itself.”

Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) was the sole Republican to vote against his nomination, along with all Democrats.
