The Supreme Court on Tuesday rejected a Pennsylvania GOP effort to halt the certification of the 2020 presidential election in that state, dealing a potentially fatal blow to efforts by Republicans to bring before the high court a constitutional argument regarding mail-in voting there.

In the one-page, one-paragraph decision, the court  stipulated that the plaintiffs' "application for injunctive relief" on the matter "is denied."

The decision will leave in place a ruling from the Pennsylvania Supreme Court that had earlier rejected the argument, which had claimed that the state's present mail-in voting system, put in place in 2019, was unconstitutional and that most of the state's mail-in votes were thus void.

Major news organizations have declared Democrat Joe Biden the winner against President Trump in this year's presidential election in Pennsylvania.
