Three Philadelphia police officers were shot Wednesday morning serving an arrest warrant.

The officers were members of the city police force's Special Weapons and Tactics, or SWAT, team.

The incident occurred at about 6:30 a.m. in north Philadelphia

The 19-year-old male who shot at police was fatally shot by officers as he tried to flee.

Police said the shooter was the person on which the officers were trying to serve a homicide warrant.

The yet-to-be-identified shooter fired at officers through a door and a window, according to local ABC News affiliate WPVI-TV.

One officer was shot in the hip, another in the leg and the third in the chest, the TV station also reports.

The officers are listed in stable condition. Two are expected to be released Wednesday, and third is expected to remain in the hospital for observation.

The warrant was in connection with an August homicide, and the suspect also was wanted in connection for multiple armed robberies, according to authorities.
