Ron DeSantis calls for federal agencies to be spread across US to reduce government power

Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis is calling for federal agencies to be spread out across the country in order to break up the heavy concentration of power in the nation's capital. 

"Too much power has accumulated in D.C., and the result is a detached administrative state that rules over us and imposes its will on us," DeSantis said in an interview with the New York Post.

"While there are a host of things that need to be done to re-constitutionalize government, parceling out federal agencies to other parts of the country could help reduce the negative effects of this accumulation of power," he said. 

DeSantis also denounced the woke agenda he says is being forced on everyday Americans by large institutions.

"Virtually every major institution in our country is attempting to impose a 'progressive' agenda on society," he told the outlet. "Florida strives to protect the ability of its citizens to live their lives free from this agenda being shoved down their throats."

DeSantis has gained nationwide attention and emerged as a leading voice in the GOP for an activist agenda that has encompassed a broad range of policies wildly popular with conservatives, including: preserving Florida from prolonged economic shutdown and other harsh public health restrictions during the spread of COVID-19; championing parental rights in education; pushing back on the ESG woke investment movement; and facing down Disney in defense of the state's ban on inculcating gender ideology in the very young in the public schools. 

"I don't promise things I can't deliver," DeSantis said during the interview. 

The GOP governor and former congressman is widely mentioned as a possible 2024 Republican presidential candidate, although he hasn't announced if he will run or not.
