Seven people injured in shooting near rural Kentucky highway, authorities on manhunt for shooter
Law enforcement in Kentucky is on a manhunt Saturday night for the suspect in a shooting incident in which several people were injured near an interstate in a rural stretch of the state's Laurel County, according to the sheriff’s office.
The shooting occurred at about 6 p.m. near Interstate 75, about nine miles north of the city of London, where “numerous persons have been shot,” said the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office, according to CNN.
A State trooper via social media urged people to stay inside.
The alleged shooter was identified about three hours after the incident as Joseph A Couch, 32, according to the Independent newspaper.
London Mayor Randall Weddle said seven people were injured – not all from gunshot wounds – and none have died as a result of the incident, the mayor also said. Others were also reportedly injured from the incident, the newspaper also reports.
The victims as of 9:40 p.m. ET had not yet been identified, and their conditions had yet to be released.
