Suspect in shooting of Tulsa police officers makes first court appearance

Police officers arrest suspects involved in the shooting of two Tulsa officers.

A suspect in the shooting of two Tulsa, Oklahoma, police officers is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday, facing charges in connection with shooting with intent to kill.

The suspect, David Ware, allegedly shot the officers early Monday morning during a traffic stop. The shooting come amid a attacks on attacks on police after George Floyd died May 25 while in the custody of Minneapolis police. Most of the attack have come amid the nationwide protests following Floyd's death.

Sgt. Craig Johnson and Officer Aurash Zarkeshan pulled over Ware after seeing his car with a paper tag that had expired, according to Fox 23 News.

Ware reportedly refused to get out of the when told it was going to be towed. He reportedly reached under his seat for a gun after first trying to use pepper spray and tase the officers before fired three times. Johnson was shot in his head and body, and Zarkeshan was shot in his head, upper body, and lower body. They are in the hospital in critical condition.

A second suspect, identified as Matthew Hall, is also custody in connection to the incident. Hall is being charge in connection to being an accessory to a felony.

Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum posted on Facebook: "There’s not anything I can type here that can describe the pain of this day. It is devastating to see the price paid by those who love our protectors.”
