Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday called Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg a "Soros-funded prosecutor" who is "pursuing a political agenda and weaponizing the office" in pursuit of fellow Republican former President Trump.

DeSantis made the comment after Trump said this past weekend that he expects to be indicted by Bragg on Tuesday, reportedly in connection to hush money paid to adult film actress Stormy Daniels for an alleged affair that Trump has denied having.

"The Manhattan district attorney is a Soros-funded prosecutor, and so he, like other Soros-funded prosecutors, they weaponize their office to impose a political agenda on society at the expense of the rule of law and public safety," DeSantis said, according to Fox News.

Billionaire George Soros has contributed to causes that have supported the election of liberal-leaning prosecutors across the country, particularly in major, Democrat-run U.S. cites like New York and St. Louis.

"If you have a prosecutor who is ignoring crimes happening every single day in his jurisdiction, and he chooses to go back many, many years ago, to try to use something about porn star hush money payments, you know, that's an example of pursuing a political agenda and weaponizing the office," DeSantis also said, criticizing Bragg's response to crime in New York City.
