The Tennessee state legislature has approved legislation that essentially prohibits public and charter schools from teaching critical race theory.

The legislation bars the educational institutions from teaching concepts like the notion that any race or sex is superior to another or that anyone "is inherently privileged, racist, sexist, or oppressive" due to their race or sex.

Schools in violation would have state funding withheld until they demonstrate that they are no longer in breach of the rules.
