Texas GOP Rep, former Homeland Security Chairman McCaul says will not seek 2026 reelection

McCaul has served 11 terms in Congress.

Texas GOP Rep. Michael McCaul, former chairman of the House's Homeland Security and Foreign Affairs committees, announced Sunday that he will not seek 2026 reelection.

McCaul made the announcement on ABC News, after serving 11 terms. 

He said serving his constituents of central Texas and leading the two Congressional House committees has been "the honor of a lifetime," according to CBS News.

McCaul also said he is looking for a "new challenge" in the national security and foreign policy world.
