President Trump and first lady Melania Trump will be spending Thanksgiving at the White House instead of attending the annual dinner at the president’s Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Wednesday morning on Fox News that the president will stay in Washington to continue to work on key issues like the pandemic.

The announcement that the first family would remain in Washington was made on Twitter on Tuesday evening by first lady spokesperson Stephanie Grisham, in a “Holiday Scheduling Update.”

The first family has typically spent the holiday at the Palm Beach resort, with Thanksgiving dinner in the ballroom with friends and supporters. Whether the dinner will be held this year amid the pandemic is unclear. The Trump Organization did not respond to questions Tuesday by the Associated Press about the matter.
