Biden orders Trump White House logs turned over to Jan 6 panel, rejects executive privilege argument

The Biden administration is rejecting former President Trump's argument that his White House visitor logs are protected by executive privilege and has ordered the National Archives to give them to the Democrat-led House committee investigating the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

In a letter to the National Archives, White House counsel Dana Remus said President Biden has rejected Trump’s executive privilege claims and that "in light of the urgency" of the committee's work, the agency should provide the material within 15 days, according to The Washington Post.

Biden last year did not to back Trump's attempt to use executive privilege to protect White House documents and records sought by the committee. The former president failed in his attempt in federal court to have their release blocked, the newspaper also reports.
