President Joe Biden tested negative for COVID on Saturday, ending a weeklong string of positive infection results as part of what physicians call a "rebound infection" of the virus.

White House Physician to the President Kevin O'Connor said in a statement on Saturday that Biden "continues to feel very well" after the weeklong ordeal, and that he will "continue his strict isolation measures" until he receives a second negative test result.

Biden in late July had tested negative for the virus for several successive days before testing positive for the virus again last Saturday.

The president during the last week praised his vaccines and booster shots for ensuring that the viral infection did not become severe.
