President Trump on Wednesday urged for calm amid reports of planned protest demonstrations ramping up ahead of Democrat Joe Biden's Jan. 20 inauguration.

"In light of reports of more demonstrations, I urge that there must be NO violence, NO lawbreaking and NO vandalism of any kind. That is not what I stand for, and it is not what America stands for. I call on ALL Americans to help ease tensions and calm tempers. Thank You," Trump said in a statement from the White House.

Close to 20,000 National Guard troops will be on the ground in the nation's capital over the next week, as security forces from all corners of the government prepare for a multitude of scenarios in the wake of demonstrators last week breaching the U.S. Capitol Building.

The president, in the process of being impeached by the Democrat-controlled or "inciting an insurrection," has repeatedly discouraged any and all violence in the aftermath of the breach.
