Kansas City shooting toll rises to more than 20 injured: Police

Authorities are still investigating the incident and have detained three people in the matter.

Police have confirmed that more than 20 people sustained gunshot wounds during a shooting in Kansas City that followed the Chiefs' Super Bowl victory parade on Wednesday.

At least twenty-two people have been shot, CNN reported, citing Police Chief Stacey Graves. Of those, one has died, three sustained immediate life-threatening injuries, seven more have life-threatening injuries, and six sustained minor injuries. Kansas City fire chief Ross Grundyson indicated that some of the victims were children.

Authorities are still investigating the incident and have detained three people in the matter. At present, authorities have not identified a motive.

The shooting took place in the aftermath of the parade at a garage near Union Station while parade attendees were departing, according to ABC News.
