As New York suffers sharp crime wave, police say ‘serial shoe snatcher’ is at large

A bizarre crime spree in an already-crime-ridden New York City has seen several women attacked and robbed of a single shoe, crimes that authorities say are all connected.

The alleged shoe thief has already stolen at least three shoes from three different women, police say, with the crook in each case taking just one shoe from each victim before fleeing the scene. 

Fox 5 New York reports that one of the assaults took place in January, one in February, and one last month in May. Two of the robberies have occurred in Brooklyn and one in Queens. 

None of the victims were injured in the attacks. Police are asking the public to report any evidence in the case to Crime Stoppers.
