New Yorkers come out in droves to attend funeral of fatally shot NYPD officers

New Yorkers lined up in droves on Tuesday to pay their respects to a pair of police officers who were fatally shot in January.

Officer Wilbert Mora and his partner, Detective Jason Rivera, were fired on as they responded to a domestic violence call on January 21. Rivera died the day of the shooting, and Mora passed several days after. 

Thousands of police officers gathered last Friday for Rivera's funeral, and thousands more were in attendance at Mora's. According to Fox News, one pair of officers drove from North Carolina to attend the ceremony, telling the outlet that the NYPD had been represented last month at a funeral for fallen officer Mia Goodwin and they wanted to return the gesture.

Mora and Rivera's killer, Lashawn McNeil, was shot by a third officer and succumbed to his injuries days later. 

Both fallen officers worked for the 32nd district in Harlem, New York.
