NYC Mayor Adams' aide robbed at gunpoint, midday in Brooklyn

Aide says he told robbers – “You don’t want to do this. I work for the mayor"

An aide to New York City Mayor Eric Adams was robbed late Tuesday morning, despite warning the perpetrators he works for the Democrat mayor, according to a news report.

The aide, identified by the New York Post as Christopher Baugh was scouting a location in Brooklyn’s Navy Yard for a future appearance by Adams, a former city police captain elected last year on a get-tough-on-crime agenda.

Baugh was approached by the two males at about 10:30 a.m., law enforcement sources told the newspaper. They robbers allegedly demanded Baugh hand over his wallet and cell phone. Baugh refused, telling them to "get out of his way" and that he worked for Adams.

They instead reportedly shoved Baugh to the ground and brandished a gun. Baugh then turned over the items, and the two masked men fled. No arrests have been made, and the robbers are still suspected to be at large.

The reported robbery occurred in front of a $2.6 billion redevelopment of Brooklyn’s Navy Yard.

According to the New York City Police Department, the major crimes were up more than 36% in June, compared to the same time last year. Robberies are up nearly 40% over the same period.
