Many American believe that more freedoms bring more inequality

How do some voters feel about the relationship between freedoms and equality?

In a democracy, it's common to think of freedom and equality as essentially synonymous. These are core values that must both be upheld in order to have any semblance of democracy.

But many Americans believe that the opposite is true. The more you have of one, the less you have of the other.

13% of voters believe that there’s a conflict between the American ideals of freedom and equality: that giving more freedoms leads to more types of inequality. More Americans believe the opposite, with 42% believing that more freedoms will lead to more equality, but 13% isn’t an insignificant figure.
