Caitlyn Jenner, the Olympic gold medalist and transgender woman, firmly opposes allowing biological males who identify as females to compete in girls' school sports.

"This is a question of fairness," Jenner said on Saturday when asked about the matter. "That's why I oppose biological boys who are trans competing in girls' sports in school. It just isn't fair."

Jenner, who recently announced a gubernatorial bid in California, has staked out a clear position on an issue of significant cultural contention.

But while some may find Jenner's position on the matter surprising considering that Jenner is a transgender individual, the Republican is not backing down.

"I didn't expect to get asked this on my Saturday morning coffee run, but I'm clear about where I stand," Jenner tweeted. "It's an issue of fairness and we need to protect girls' sports in our schools."
