Jerry Lee Lewis, rock-and-roll pioneer, dead at 87

Jerry Lee Lewis, the rock-and-roll trailblazer known for his hellraising attitude and his manic piano-playing skills, died on Friday at age 87. 

Born in Ferriday, Louisiana, Lewis had a string of hits in the 1950s, including the iconic "Great Balls of Fire." His rock-and-roll career was cut short amid explosive scandal when it was learned that he had married his 13-year-old cousin. 

Lewis ultimately found success in country music, though his personal life remained troubled, rocked by drug addictions, allegations of abuse, tax issues, and eventually a total of seven marriages.

He died in DeSoto County, Mississippi on Friday. He had suffered a stroke several years before
