Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, SpaceX and currently the world's richest man, says he will be forking over $11 billion in taxes this year.

"For those wondering, I will pay over $11 billion in taxes this year," Musk tweeted Sunday evening.

Musk has an estimated net worth of $243 billion, the majority of which is involved in Tesla and SpaceX.

Known for his candor on Twitter, Musk went head-to-head last week with progressive Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren (Mass.), who shared her belief that he should be paying more taxes.

"Let’s change the rigged tax code so The Person of the Year will actually pay taxes and stop freeloading off everyone else," tweeted Warren last week, following the announcement of Musk as Time Magazine's Person of the Year.

In addition to linking to a 2019 article that labels Warren a "fraud" due to her years-long claims of Native American ancestry, Musk responded that he will pay more in taxes this year than any American in history. His most recent statement appears to be a follow up to that sentiment.
