Former Vice President Walter Mondale passed away on Monday at the age of 93.

Mondale, who also served as a U.S. senator, was trounced by incumbent Republican President Ronald Reagan during the 1984 election. The final electoral vote tally was a lopsided 525-13 in Reagan's favor.

He served as vice president alongside President Jimmy Carter from 1977 to 1981.
