A naval destroyer dating from the last days of World War II arrived in Jacksonville, Fla., on Saturday, bound for a permanent docking at the city's planned naval museum.

The arrival of the ship drew considerable crowds to Jacksonville's St. Johns River waterfront as it was towed up the waterway by a tugboat.

The ship served in the U.S. Navy from 1945 to 1982 before being sold to the Turkish government; later, after being decommissioned, she was sold to buyers in the United States who turned her into a naval museum

She has been docked previously in Texas and Louisiana before arriving at her present home in Jacksonville.
