Wyoming GOP Gov. Mark Gordon signed a bill that bans the selling of abortion pills in the Cowboy state.

There are already "trigger bans" on abortion pills in Wyoming and 12 other states including Alabama, Arkansas, South Dakota and Tennessee. Trigger bans were bans on most abortions set to go into effect if and when Roe v. Wade was overturned by the Supreme Court, which it was in June of 2022.

Wyoming is the first state to sign off on a separate piece of legislation outlawing the pills.

The ban is set to take effect in July if legal action does not block it.

The current law in Wyoming bans abortion with certain exceptions such as rape, incest and if the life of the mother is in danger.

Those who perform an abortion outside of those exceptions could face five years in prison, a $20,000 fine or both.
