Former President Donald Trump celebrated Tuesday as a "GREAT EVENING" with the midterms, but conservative commentators were not so optimistic about the election's results.

"174 wins and 9 losses, A GREAT EVENING, and the Fake News Media, together with their partner in crime, the Democrats, are doing everything possible to play it down. Amazing job by some really fantastic candidates!" Trump wrote early Wednesday morning on Truth Social.

Politico's Trump endorsement tracker shows that 4 of his chosen candidates have won in the House and the Senate, while 6 have lost so far.

Many conservative commentators have a different view on the midterms than the former president.

"Very bad midterm results for Republicans. Yes, we’ll get the House which should help us hog-tie Biden’s agenda for the rest of his term. But the Senate? Who knows? GOP did so much worse than we should have, given the wreckage of Biden’s policies," conservative filmmaker and Trump ally Dinesh D'Souza posted Wednesday on Truth Social.

Daily Wire contributor Matt Walsh said: "There was no red wave but neither was this any sort of resounding victory for the Democrats. We’re left with an electorate divided, confused, and uninspired. Neither party has a coherent message or competent leadership,"

Commentator Ben Shapiro wrote on Twitter that Democrats "wildly outperformed expectations, except in Florida" while "Republicans wildly underperformed." He also predicted that Biden will be the 2024 Democratic nominee for president "unless he is fully incapacitated."
