Former President Donald Trump hailed the Supreme Court and the three justices he appointed, declaring Saturday night its rulings on gun rights and abortion were a major victory for those who revere the Constitution.

“Yesterday, the court handed down a victory for the Constitution, a victory for the rule of law and above all a victory for life,” the 45th president told a rally in Illinois surrounded by candidates he had endorsed.

“We believe that every precious child that is born and unborn is a sacred gift from God, we also had a great victory in the United States Supreme Court two days ago for supporters of a thing called the Second Amendment,” he added.

Trump also endorsed state Sen. Darren Bailey in the race to become Illinois' next governor, launching a broadside against incumbent Democrat Gov. J.B. Pritzker, whom he called "one of the worst governors in America."

"He was a disaster. His numbers are terrible. Everybody is fleeing his state. This is a disaster," Trump told the crowd at the Adams County Fairgrounds.. "Darren is the opposite."

"He wants to cut your taxes," Trump said. "He wants to lower your regulations down to the lowest in the country and make Illinois competitive again, because it is not competitive at all."
